130 miles, 23.1 mpg The ferry back from the Netherlands to Newcastle was as good as usual (it's one of my favourite ways to get to and from the continent when travelling from Scotland) and the drive home to Edinburgh was uneventful. Zaanse Schans then the Ferry
52 miles, 23.9 mpg As our Ferry wasn't until the evening we had some time to kill before catching it. We'd read about Zaanse Schans and the pictures of the windmills there looked great so we decided to spend the day there, using an Aire beside the railway station to park up. Zaanse Schans didn't disappoint and it's very picturesque with the colourful windmills along the waterside. There were also places showing how clogs were made, which Fiona enjoyed as she's quite into clog

Amsterdam and Surroundings
127 miles, 23.9 mpg We'd booked the Amsterdam to Newcastle ferry for our return so decided to spend our last few days at a campsite we'd used before for Amsterdam, just on the edge of the forest on the south side of the city. It's a decent site, open all year and with good cycle routes into the city or to the flower markets.
