Obi's first Munro

It has been on my to-do list for a while to take Obi up his first Munro, and with the nice weather we've been having in Scotland then doing that on his 3rd birthday seemed like a nice idea.
It's been a few years since Fiona or I have done a Munro so I decided to pick an easy one, and one that we'd done before (twice in my case) and that was also easy to get to - Carn na Caim. It benefits from a track all the way to the top and while not the most exciting of hills it does have good views of the surrounding hills.
My daughter was going to come with us but opted out due to a sore foot, however her husband Graeme was keen to come along so we duly picked him up at around 6:30am and headed north towards the A9.
The starting point is a layby on the A9 just before the Dalwhinnie turnoff and despite the early start there were already a few cars there, but there was still plenty of room to park our car. Just across the road and through a couple of gates there is a landrover track that climbs, steeply at times, to the remains of an old quartz quarry at just over 900m. Here the track splits - to the left towards Carn na Caim or right towards the very unpronounceable A'Bhuidheanach Bheag. We'd done the latter hill a few years ago with our older dog Ludo, so headed left at the junction from where the going was excellent, especially in the very dry conditions, and the summit was soon reached.
